It will not commonly be thought of as the sexiest game in the universe of gaming, but keno has huge amounts of keen enthusiasts. And so it should! It’s a consistently exciting lotto-type game that’s a snap to master, abundantly available in a number of alternate variations, and one that might return mega-dollars for people who master its numerous subtle rules. But let’s begin with the basics for now.

When explaining keno to beginners, some gambling experts compare it to bingo. This is at least in some measure correct, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far would be to underrate the good many unique traits that make keno so fun. Unlike bingo, keno enthusiasts have the ability to choose the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the player is given an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as many (or as few) numbers as he needs. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your chosen numbers with a standard#2 pencil like you had when you were a kid.

Now that you have picked your numbers, take your game card back to the person at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not drop this (potentially) lucrative bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning ticket with you, you will get exactly $.00 for your time spent.

OK, so there you have strategy #1: always be sure to keep your keno receipt. Let’s advance to something a little more complicated, ok?

Now that you’ve checked off your numbers, get into a comfy keno booth and observe the action unfold on a monitor. That is where the winning numbers are displayed in lights. If you picked winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Be sure not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You are required to get up to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, and then a new drawing will almost certainly start within 5 minutes.

Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you can not trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of using a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your handpicked numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty slips. When the maximum amount of games (fitting the amount of tickets) is played, you will then be able to get off your lazy rump and go collect your winnings.

Another alternative is recognized as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which normally lets you make number choices for thirty rounds or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to fret about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after you by it!

And now you know a couple required strategies for winning keno. If you are a discerning player, they may seem very obvious. However, it won’t hurt to brush up on the basic techniques, and if you are a beginner player, every bit of direction will help make your keno experience more entertaining.
