It will not usually be considered the most lucrative game in the world of betting, but keno has huge amounts of fanatical enthusiasts. As well it should! It’s a routinely thrilling lottery-like game that’s a breeze to pickup, abundantly available in several different styles, and one that may return mega-dollars for gamblers who master its innumerable subtle rules. But let’s begin with the beginner’s rules here.

When describing keno to newbies, some betting pros compare it to the lottery. This is at least in some measure correct, in that both games are essentially numerical. However, to carry that comparison too far would be to detract from the many unique characteristics that make keno so entertaining. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the freedom to pick the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the player is furnished with an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to select as many (or as few) numbers as he or she thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a genius to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your desired numbers with a normalball point pen like you had when you were in grade 3.

After you have picked your numbers, take the keno card back to the nice person at the keno stand. The clerk will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Do not misplace this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will win exactly $.00 for your actions.

Ok, there you have strategy number one: always take care to keep your keno slip. Let’s get on to something a little bit more complex, yes?

Once you’ve picked your numbers, get yourself into a nice keno booth and observe the action happen on a video monitor. This is where the winning numbers are shown for us. If you’ve got winners, mark your card appropriately. Sake care not to move to slowly, or sit there praising yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You must get up to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, since a new keno game will most likely start within five minutes.

Strategy number 2: always make it back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you can’t trust yourself to make that 5 minute margin each time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your handpicked numbers on anywhere from two to twenty tickets. When the max number of keno games (matching the number of tickets) is completed, you may then get off your lazy back side and go collect your winnings.

Another alternative is referred to as a "stray and play" keno slip, which normally lets you make number selection for 30 keno rounds or more. Heck, you can take a world tour and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!

And now you know several required strategies for winning keno. If you are an experienced player, they might appear to be quite obvious. However, it does not hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a new user, every little bit of information will help make your keno playing time more exciting.
